Das Spezial Artist Residency (DSAR)

Das Spezial Artist Residency (DSAR) Bournemouth

The Das Spezial Artist Residency (DSAR) was created to give artists something that's becoming increasingly difficult to find – space, time and the freedom to create.

Based in Bournemouth, the residency offers large studio spaces within a building managed by Das Spezial, providing visual artists with room to experiment, develop ambitious ideas and grow their own creative practice. Whether working in painting, sculpture, installation, mixed media or other disciplines, resident artists are encouraged to explore without expectation, collaborate without boundaries and make work that feels authentic to them.
DSAR is about more than providing studios. It's about building a creative community. By bringing together artists from different backgrounds, cultures and disciplines, we hope to create a hub where ideas are shared, collaborations happen naturally and new creative possibilities emerge.
As part of the residency, artists become part of the wider Das Spezial collective. They contribute to collaborative projects, create artwork and visual identities connected to our music, take part in creative experiments and exhibitions, and help shape the evolving world of Das Spezial. In return, we champion their work, provide opportunities to showcase it and support their artistic journey as it continues to grow.
We believe that the most exciting ideas often happen when different creative worlds overlap. DSAR exists to make those encounters possible.
