Das SPEZIAL

Romantic Schizophrenic

Some collaborations happen naturally. This was one of them.

After hearing the music of Das SPEZIAL, acclaimed DJ and producer Henrik Schwarz connected with the project and championed Romantic Schizophrenic to Japanese label Mule Musiq, who went on to release the track as a limited 12" alongside a new interpretation from Schwarz himself.

The original is a dark, driving piece of electronic music—built around a hypnotic pulse, heavy low end and restless layers of sound. For his remix, Schwarz strips things back and opens up the space around the track, drawing out its more atmospheric qualities with dub textures, spacious electronics and slowly evolving harmonic elements.

The result is deeper, more hypnotic and built for the early hours, while retaining the tension and character of the original.

It reflects something central to Das SPEZIAL: an openness to unexpected connections, and a belief that the most interesting music often emerges when ideas are allowed to move beyond their starting point.
